Graduate School of Tokyo University of Social Welfare Application Guideline for International Postgraduate Research Students

Preliminary program (similar to auditor program) preparing students to enter Mater's program of TUSW

What is the Postgraduate Research Students Program?

The Faculty Research student Program of Tokyo University of Social Welfare (TUSW) is designed for those who want to study education/social welfare at TUSW, and wish to obtain knowledge in Japanese culture and proficiency in Japanese language that are necessary for conducting study in the above-mentioned field.
This is a preliminary program (similar to auditor program) preparing students to enter the Master’s program of TUSW Graduate School. Students are admitted as research student on the assumption that they will become regular students of the Master’s program of TUSW Graduate School.

Generally the duration of the program is for one year. However, some students can complete the program in 6 months, according to their attendance and academic achievement.
The maximum duration as research student status is up to two years, according to student’s proficiency in Japanese and their academic progress.
Upon taking the required number of units prescribed in the curriculum of the research student program and completing the program, students may be admitted as a regular student of the Mater’s program of TUSW.  (Students need to take selection examination. Those who have received internal recommendation will get preferential treatment.)

This program is profitable for students, since the credits obtained as a research student can be included in the number of credits required to complete the Master’s programs of TUSW Graduate School.
