This program is intended for those who wish to study education/social welfare/child care and early child hood education/psychology at TUSW, and wish to obtain knowledge in Japanese culture and proficiency of Japanese language necessary for conducting study in the above-mentioned. Credits that obtained as faculty research students are admitted credits that obtained as regular students

1) Faculty Research Students
This is a preliminary program preparing students transfer to the third academic year of a degree program of TUSW in general.
2) Postgraduate School Research Students
This is a preliminary program preparing students matriculate to the graduate school.

*In accordance with the guideline of Immigration Bureau about research students, students must take at least 10 hours of elective courses per week.
*Students will conduct their studies according to their study plans and under the supervision of TUSW’s academic advisors.
*International research students of TUSW must take prescribed elective classes (described below) to complete the program.

Qualifications for Application
1) Those who have completed 16・14 years of formal schooling and eligible to enter colleges/universities in their home countries, or those who is judged to have scholastic abilities equivalent to the above.
2) Those who had been in colleges/universities to be in accordance with public education system more than two years (62 credits or more acquisition), or will be expected to finish the second-year course until March of 2012(62 credits or more acquisition).
3) Those whose Japanese Level is equivalent to the N3 or higher level of Japanese Language Proficiency Test “JLPT”, the intermediate level or higher of Global Network Kentei “GNK”, or the Level D or higher of the J-Test.
Application Procedure

From 9th to 21st of November, 2011
(2) Application Procedure
1) Fill out all entries in “Survey Slip for Studying Abroad” (「留学調査票(りゅうがくちょうさひょう)」)and then send it by fax or e-mail within the period above-mentioned.
2) Pay the entrance exam fee and prepare all documents concerning with admission to university, and then send it to the address mentioned below.
3) Fix the date of it and conduct the examination. After making the application and then adjust the place, the date of exam on individual contact.
4) Let all applicants know whether s/he has passed the exam, we apply certificate of eligibility in each at immigration office.
5) After admitting the application of it, let person qualified know that s/he passed and then the person who has passed pay tuition fee to designated account.
6) After confirming of reception of fees, we send “Eligibility of Certificate” and “Certificate of Admission” to the said person and then s/he follows the necessary for an application of student visa.

The photos that are printed out from P.C. are not accepted. |

* It must be described in bank account that is sufficient amount to support an applicant’s expenses. In case of Chinese financial sponsor, it is needed a hundred thousand CN Yuan or more in bank account.
* Note: Recently, the Immigration Bureau of Japan is conducting stricter inspections of documents submitting by applicants for the visa status “Student” since the number of illegal residents and illegal workers who entered Japan as “Student” is marked increasing. Therefore, the Immigration Bureau is requesting some additional documents to be submitted for those applicants from countries/areas where account for a large number of Immigration Act violators.

* Payment must be under applicant’s own responsibility. Once the payment has been transferred, application fee is not refundable for any reason and regardless of the result of the screening.
Tuition and fees to be paid in the first school year
Applicants from college/university/Japanese language school has concluded with TUSW is exempted an admission fee as a special scholarship.

Application Guideline for International Postgraduate Research Students
(Master’s program, April & October 2011 admission)
Preliminary program (similar to auditor program) preparing students
to enter Mater’s program of TUSW
What is the Postgraduate Research Students Program?
The Faculty Research student Program of Tokyo University of Social Welfare (TUSW) is designed for those who wish to study education/social welfare/clinical psychology/child care at TUSW, and wish to obtain knowledge in Japanese culture and proficiency in Japanese language that are necessary for conducting study in the above-mentioned field.
This is a preliminary program (similar to auditor program) preparing students to enter the Master’s program of TUSW Graduate School. Students are admitted as research student on the assumption that they will become regular students of the Master’s program of TUSW Graduate School.
Generally the duration of the program is for one year. However, some students can complete the program in 6 months, according to their attendance and academic achievement.
The maximum duration as research student status is up to two years, according to student’s proficiency in Japanese and their academic progress.
Upon taking the required number of units prescribed in the curriculum of the research student program and completing the program, students may be admitted as a regular student of the Mater’s program of TUSW. (Students need to take selection examination. Those who have received internal recommendation will get preferential treatment.)
This program is profitable for students, since the units obtained as a research student can be included in the number of units required to complete the Master’s programs of TUSW Graduate School.
